R-Type[edit]

Isn't the MSX version of R-Type MSX1-compatible? It's mentioned under MSX2 here, but I rather doubt that. --Bakabaka 10:02, 21 June 2006 (UTC) I have never edited the wikipedia and I don´t dare to do it, but I had it, a cartridge of R-Type for MSX1, so I can confirm it.[reply]

The Zoo[edit]

The game 'The Zoo' is an MSX2 game. There was also a great game called 'Breaker' which is an MSX2 game that was created by Radarsoft in Holland. It featured a compelling soundtrack an great gameplay, but only a few emulators are able to run it. 62.177.166.236 (talk) 11:48, 29 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Subtypes[edit]

How intercompatible are the various MSX versions? Can later models run the software of earlier ones? If so, it may be a good idea to just have one big list undifferentiated by hardware. 2fort5r (talk) 01:40, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • I know nothing about MSX2+ or Turbo, but MSX2 is almost 100% backwards compatible. Everything marked as 'Yes' for MSX should also be 'Yes' for MSX2. Which is not currently the case, and that's something that needs to be fixed. --Andemon (talk) 10:45, 2 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • I did some research into this. MSX -> MSX2 -> MSX2+ -> MSX TurboR. All backwards compatible. There are only 5 games that require TurboR (MSX was failing at that point of time), and only 14 games that require MSX2+. So having columns for so few seems like ineffective use of space. Maybe MSX2+ and Turbo R games should be moved to a separate list... Andemon (talk) 12:24, 6 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
