Take the 'unlucky' stuff out of the 'intro'[edit]

Add it to the "Events" section. It sounds as if August is unlucky, however this belief is only held by a small portion of the Brazillian population.

Julian Calendar Discrepancy[edit]

"The month has 31 days because Augustus wanted as many days as Julius Caesar's July."

Really ? That's not what Julian calendar#Length of the months says.

Perhaps we should move that sentence to Julian calendar#Length of the months, leaving behind a sentence like "See Julian calendar#Length of the months for details."

Edit 'Monthlong events in August'[edit]

under the 'Monthlong events in August' section reads 'August 4 is Shilo's birthday. He is famous for his work with numerous charities.' this should be moved to the events in august section or deleted. also, what's the deal with the 'Moving daily events in August' section? 68.239.78.171 00:33, 28 August 2006 (UTC)ryan[reply]

Events in August[edit]

I just yanked a bunch of "this day in history" references from this section:

Most People Born in this Month?[edit]

I heard that more people are born in August than any other month, due to the high conception rates around the Holidays in December. Is there a source for this? -01:20, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

I've heard similar responses for other months, such as conception around Valentine's Day, and conception in June (Summer vacation) and I doubt there is a concensus or source anywhere. 66.203.38.23 17:24, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure about that. I know that September is one of the 3 highest, and I'm pretty sure the other months are a couple of months apart from September. I guess a source will just have to be found.

August[edit]

Under the month of August, the article reads: In common years no other month starts on the same day of the week as August, though in leap years February starts on the same day. This can't be right! What does this mean? Does this mean that if 1 August is on Wednesday, it will be on Wednesday in all the years except in leap years? Loythula (talk) 06:34, 20 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If 1 August is on, say, a Wednesday in a certain year, no other month will start on a Wednesday in that same year. However if that year was a leap year, 1 February will also start on a Wednesday. Hope that helps. FM talk to me | show contributions ]  18:08, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I find that entire section about what month starts when almost impossible to comprehend or digest. Is it really necessary? AdventurousMe (talk) 06:54, 28 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

No official holidays?[edit]

I wonder if it should be mentioned there are no official holidays in August, at least not American ones. Most calendars of the month are completely blank of them. The snare (talk) 16:55, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Slate Link[edit]

Is the link to the page of an editor expressing his/her dislike of August really necessary? FM talk to me | show contributions ]  18:10, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No. Removing. AdventurousMe (talk) 06:55, 28 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Why only August?[edit]

How come August is the only month in the year, that is arranged so well (ie: other translations and overall 'tidiness')?? All other months should be edited to look like August! Anyone else thinks so...? I'm just not a good wiki-editor i only fix tiny stuff every now and then.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.253.80.195 (talk) 20:44, 20 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Daily or annual?[edit]

Is National Heroes Day really a daily event in the Philippines in August, or is it just a holiday (August 23) that should be on that date's page rather than the month's page? --Haruo (talk) 18:12, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
