Winslow[edit]

this says winslow was the only cast member to reprise role for the series, but the graph shows otherwise..........what gives? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.193.61.243 (talk) 09:12, 17 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Good point. Have clarified. Rob Sinden (talk) 08:59, 13 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It appears we have fixed it by removing the graph. Pity. They are usually very helpful. 155.213.224.59 (talk) 16:05, 8 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 11 February 2018[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: NOT Moved Clearly, the Police academy, the school institution is clearly the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC Artix Kreiger (talk) 15:32, 18 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

– The movies of this series are WP:PRIMARYTOPIC and already dominate the links on the current disambiguation page. It is quite reasonable to believe that almost everyone searching for this topic is looking for the movie series, and the current disambiguation page is getting in the way for most of them. -- Netoholic @ 23:31, 11 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose. So are you saying there is no capitalization issue, and everybody maybe is not really looking for Police academy instead? The one listed first on the disambiguation page? The generic term for "a training school for police recruits" where the film series got its name from? Now that I think about it, this definition would then be more of long term significance than the film series, so the Police academy should be the primary topic instead, despite the capitalization difference. Zzyzx11 (talk) 01:44, 12 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Zzyzx11: - police academy (lowercase) is already primary topic. This move discussion is to resolve Police Academy (uppercase). These two primary topics are different per WP:DIFFCAPS (this is a red meat vs Red Meat type of situation), and hatnotes will of course be used on both pages to redirect users landing on the wrong one. -- Netoholic @ 05:08, 12 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • I still disagree in this particular case. When I do a google search of Police Academy with the upper case "A", I do not get results that are predominantly about the film series. There are a few of them at the top for the results of the film series, but most of them are police academies around the world. I seriously doubt that there is a DIFFCAPS here, in that most English-speaking readers entering "Police Academy" in the search boxes of either google or Wikipedia are not necessarily looking for this what is now over 20-year old film series. Zzyzx11 (talk) 05:15, 12 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
      • @Zzyzx11: - I put the police academy meaning in my page views link above when I posted this RM. That article gets about one-third the views that this movie series does. I think that shows what readers are looking for. But again, I must restate, I am not proposing ANY change to police academy. None of your worries is relevant. If someone lands at Police Academy by mistake now, they need to click a link. Same is true after this move. -- Netoholic @ 05:41, 12 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
        • Usage or what links here were some of the same arguments in the Apple vs. Apple Inc. discussions, and yet the former is currently the primary topic because long term usage was the prevailing consensus. So again, I disagree here that there is a significant DIFFCAPS difference between the uppercase and lowercase "A" worldwide. And I disagree that primary topic based on usage should prevail here. Or based on how many more detailed articles and subarticles on this pop culture topic are adding the what links here list. Zzyzx11 (talk) 06:02, 12 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose This seems needless change. The movie is barely known outside US, and even there largely only known by movies aficionados. While police academy (irrespective of capitalization) generally refers to training institution throughout English-speaking world. In addition, the movie is click-away in the DAB page. So it is still easily accessible –Ammarpad (talk) 13:50, 17 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose - First 2 pages for me are all about the franchise but from 3 onwards it's about actual police academies .....I personally think the disam is absolutely fine and should remain. –Davey2010Talk 21:42, 17 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
