LaTeX conversion script[edit]

Your conversion script to LaTeX sounds very interesting. Do you have it available for download somewhere? Colin Marquardt 14:36, 28 Aug 2003 (UTC)

Thanks for the intererst. No, I don't have it available for download just yet. Ap 16:15, 28 Aug 2003 (UTC)

Why did you blank Procedural knowledge? If you want it deleted, just let me know... --Jiang 09:21, 30 Aug 2003 (UTC)

Sampler[edit]

Re: Sampler as a disambiguation page. I don't disagree that 'sampler' is a much used term for many things. However, the article that is now Digital sampler has problems because it talks about the whole gamut of sampling, including instruments that are not digital. I don't know what should be done to fix the problem. sugarfish 17:38, 13 Sep 2003 (UTC)

I moved Digital sampler to Sampler (musical instrument) to remove the issue of non-digital samplers. sugarfish 17:44, 13 Sep 2003 (UTC)

Merging of various articles[edit]

Nice job with the merging of various duplicated articles. :) --seav 12:20, Sep 18, 2003 (UTC)

Thanks for the compliment. Ap 17:35, 18 Sep 2003 (UTC)

Well done! The Thirty Years' War badly needed merging. It'll take a lot more to make a fully coherent narrative, but I'm glad someone has made the start! Djnjwd 19:43, 18 Sep 2003 (UTC)

Thanks, this was definetely one of the most complicated merges I have done up until now. I completely agree with you it still needs more work. Ap 20:02, 18 Sep 2003 (UTC)

Charmed[edit]

All of the information that you merged was incorrect. (ie: Prue was not the War god in the Goddess episode, since she had been killed off years before. (regardles, that type of information (one episode's plot) isnt relevant for an article about a tv series. In additoin, Mitzy, mable etc Halliwell are not the names of any regular charactars in the show. I believe that one of the episodes had a trivial charactar, possibly named mitzy who might have pertended to be one of the halliwells, but all the information concerning mitzy is incorrect even if she was a charactar. The article said Pheobe had power to move objects with her mind which was infact incorrect. I assumed that a vandal did this because the article is so absurd, and that you had inadvertantly merged the vandal's work into the mainstream article. Alexandros 22:11, 27 Oct 2003 (UTC)

 • I am editing the charmed article to include the correct information but there were only a few things that were correct in the previous merged version, most of which are irrelevant anyway. Also, the merged article was incoherent. Next time try not to merge articles that you dont know anything about unless you are pretty sure the info is correct. Sorry for the trouble. Alexandros 23:06, 27 Oct 2003 (UTC)
 • Your modifications to Charmed are very helpful. There is now some background, and it all flows better in a synopsis paragraph. I would add more about Cole, but I have more important articles to work on. Ill save this for a time when i have a headache or something. Good work! Alexandros

Climbing[edit]

I'm just in the process of renovating the List of climbing topics. You are a recent editor of that page, so feel free to revert my changes if you don't approve of them. Stewartadcock 23:25, 14 Nov 2003 (UTC)

Dont't worry. I keep tabs on those pages and I don't hesitate to change what I don't like. I must say that your work so far has been outstanding. It's always nice to see another climber on Wikipedia. -- Ap 00:55, 15 Nov 2003 (UTC)

I've written the bulk of an article about climbing equipment, currently at User:Stewartadcock/Climbing_equipment. Maybe you'd like to take a look and make some comments? I've got some photos to add at some point. Stewart Adcock 06:39, 16 Dec 2003 (UTC)

Wikipedia:WikiProject Knots[edit]

Hello, I noticed you reformatted some of the knots articles. I've started Wikipedia:WikiProject Knots to standardized knots articles. Would you like to join this project and develop a standard format for knots articles? Thanks. Samw 04:24, 1 Jan 2004 (UTC)

Why in the world would you move Entity-Relationship diagram, with its grossly inappropriately capitalized "R", to Entity-Relationship Diagram, which is even worse? (I fixed it, and all of the links. Within the article there was a non-working link to Social Security Number, which didn't work for the same reason. I changed it to social security number. Why do people worship capitals like this?) Michael Hardy 01:02, 30 Jan 2004 (UTC)

That changes dates back from May last year. If you had looked at my contributions list, you would notice that more often than not, I redirect to lowercased pages. In this case, however, the books I have on this subject, use the Entity-Relationship Diagram spelling, hence my redirect. -- Ap 19:00, 30 Jan 2004 (UTC)

Hello! language integration...[edit]

Hi Ap,

Thanks for your steady work on this project. I'm always sad to see eager contributors

and then find that they contributed for six months a year ago and have disappeared... I noticed that you were the person who originally typed up Meta:Proposal on language integration, which interests me greatly. Do you still think about these issues? +sj+ 03:51, 16 Jul 2004 (UTC)

License ?[edit]

Hi Ap, could you tell me if Image:Logistic-burification.png is GFDL or not ? We use it on french wikipedia. Thanks in advance. Tipiac 20:31, 17 Nov 2004 (UTC)

The image is in the public domain. I updated the page to reflect that.

TeX[edit]

Could you work out how thick the english 'pedia would be now that we are up to 400 000 articles? 20 metres? more? The bellman 03:28, 2004 Nov 30 (UTC)

Article Licensing[edit]

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 1000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

Image tag[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Michelson interferometer schematic.png. I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know its copyright status? (You can use gfdl if you release it under the GFDL, or fairuse if you claim fair use, etc.) If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know where you got the images and I'll tag them for you. Thanks so much, Aqua 07:26, Dec 24, 2004 (UTC)

old business, please help[edit]

Hi,

Back in September of 2003 you moved materials into Present-day_proponents_of_establishing_cooperative_relationships_between_humans_and_horses that somebody else wrote. I am catching a very negative reaction from somebody who holds me responsible for the content, and some of what s/he says seems to me to be an ad hominem attack. It would be helpful if you could remember what article you moved the laudatory stuff about Monty Roberts from. Thanks. P0M 05:15, 30 Dec 2004 (UTC)

The content was originally located on Horse-breaking. Ap 19:41, 5 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Did you create this image? If so it needs a GFDL tag or will soon be deleted. --Duk 20:42, 18 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

List of disabilities[edit]

A prod template has been added to the article List of disabilities, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the dated prod notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please tag it with db-author. B1atv 14:20, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, can you comment on the origins and your work in the creation/development of the article LZ 129 Hindenburg which was created in 2002. From an initial reading of the first draft, it appears that the article editors were identifying with a German airship as the article at that point used metric measurements/weights and noted that the name was a "foreign word." There is a date convention however, that was in place which is the M/D/Y that is more common to the United States as the "popular" style of dates and that is the sticking point now as the article has evolved. Recently a discussion has occurred around the use of date structure in the Zeppelin articles: LZ 129 Hindenburg and LZ 127 Graf Zeppelin as the dates in the article are related to an editor making the assertion that the US-style should predominate, and has made the argument based on the article being created that way and that no case had been made for the topic to be more related to Germany. You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. Hello, Ap. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Electrical engineer, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

 1. edit the page
 2. remove the text that looks like this:
 3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.
