Link to new title[edit]

Linking the move target creates a link in the history, but it uglifies recent changes with unnecessary extra brackets, like this:

What do people think? Is it worth the RC ugliness to have a link to the move target in the edit history? —No-One Jones (m) 13:48, 5 Nov 2004 (UTC)

I've seen lots of recent changes with clickable links that don't have visible brackets. Is there a way to make that work here or a bug fix that can be filed ? — 131.230.133.185 28 June 2005 21:41 (UTC)
If the link is clickable, the brackets have already been there, they aren't supposed to show. Redwolf24 (talk) 01:14, 6 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

considering a change[edit]

I'm considering changing the text from "$1 moved to $2" to "moved $1 to $2". Because the page move is displayed as "<username> <original page> moved to <new page>" in the contributions, it is sometimes easy to accidentally think that the username is part of the original name. What do you think? --Ixfd64 21:18, 17 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I concur. «»Who?¿?meta 22:29, 23 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I agree, and have taken the liberty of implementing it. violet/riga (t) 22:44, 23 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I too agree with your decision in implementing it. --Siva1979Talk to me 20:14, 27 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Shouldn't this be updated into Betawiki? --Steinninn 11:40, 2 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What is this!?--Emperor Walter Humala · ( talk? · help! ) 21:29, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It is an interface message displayed by MediaWiki in edit histories and logs. For example, the message is used in the highlighted portion of this log excerpt (where $1 and $2 are variables replaced by the relevant pages):

Delete?[edit]

This discussion has been moved to Wikipedia:MediaWiki messages#MediaWiki:1movedto2. --David Göthberg (talk) 10:18, 2 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

According to Special:Allmessages, the default message is now identical to the current text of this system message (the same is also true for MediaWiki:1movedto2 redir and MediaWiki:Aboutpage). I recall hearing that performance is slightly improved if the local MediaWiki message is deleted (or remains uncreated) in these cases, and therefore I'm wondering if these messages shouldn't just be deleted. Thoughts? --Dinoguy1000 (talk · contribs) as 208.124.86.54 (talk) 01:43, 2 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There is also MediaWiki:Allmessages, MediaWiki:Anonymous, MediaWiki:Badfilename, and MediaWiki:Badipaddress. Anyone care to run an automated sweep for these messages and list them all, if it's possible? --Dinoguy1000 (talk · contribs) as 208.124.86.54 (talk) 01:52, 2 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I moved this discussion to Wikipedia:MediaWiki messages#MediaWiki:1movedto2, since it now concerns many messages. --David Göthberg (talk) 10:18, 2 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
