Untitled[edit]

Missing from this page is some discussion of the alledged crimes of the Polish Communist regime after the war and his role in them. E.g. the prosecutor of Pilecki, who used the evidence of Cyrankiewicz, was later charged with murder.

Then there is the treatment of the Armia Krajowa. etc.

Although the article is long for a stub, I'm marking it as one (actually converting to a proper mark rather than just a note saying it is incomplete) for this reason.

Moved[edit]

Following was moved here. My problem is that Cyrankiewicz was set as Prime Minister, but I believe he was not much acting so. Being Prime Minister for so long period, doesn't mean that he was engaged personally in everything happenned at that period of time. I think that we need more personal analysys, what he personally achieved. Cautious 12:03, 24 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Reforms[edit]

Economic[edit]

Cyrankiewicz's government implemented sweeping reforms, focused on national reconstruction and economic restructuring. Most Polish cities, but especially Warsaw had been almost destroyed during the war, and Cyrankiewicz spearheaded a campaign to rebuild them, almost from scratch. Emulating a Soviet style command economy, Cyrankiewicz nationalised nearly all of Poland's private enterprise.

Land reform[edit]

Another aspect of Soviet policy that Cyrankiewicz adopted in Poland was the forced seizure of land from wealthy landowners. Often, just as kulaks were in post-Revolution Russia, these landowners were "liquidated". Land taken from the landowners was distributed to the peasants who had worked for the landowners previously.

The Regained Territories[edit]

Following the end of World War II, territories in Western Poland annexed by the Germans, plus swathes of what had been Eastern Germany, were made part of Poland (see Oder-Neisse line, the new border that marked where East Germany ended and Poland began). Cyrankiewicz transferred millions of people who had fled the western parts of Poland during the war back to their homes.

Orphaned references in Józef Cyrankiewicz[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Józef Cyrankiewicz's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
