Cancer - your fixing of wikilink to 'United States'[edit]

Brim,

I had intended for the passage to read as follows:

...purports to be the "the [United States'] leading charity in the field of diet, nutrition and cancer", supporting...

The brackets were not meant to indicate a wikilink but an replaced phrase in the original quotation.

I hope you don't mind my reverting your change. I do appreciate your vigilance and actions on behalf of the article.

Thank you for the kind words. I am a resident (in radiation oncology) in the United States. My main project currently is my Radiation Oncology textbook, still in its infancy, over at Wikibooks. I still try to contribute to general medical articles when somethings pops in my head. Misuse of Template:unencyclopedic[edit]

Brim, kindly familiarize yourself with Wikipedia:WikiProject_Music/Notability_and_Music_Guidelines and allow articles created to expand before immediate use of this template. The DJ Icey article was created today, its 4th edit was your inclusion of this template, many of our articles require several days and or weeks to become a well rounded article. How would you like it if someone did the same to one of your brand new medical submissions, most people know nothing about specialized medicine and would likely say Wikipedia is not a Medical Library or some other such nonsense. A simple google of "DJ Icey" returns 42,100 results which shows his notability. In the future would you please at least use google first? You sorta jumped the gun on this one.

Alkivar, I apologize for jumping the gun on this one. At the time of my edit, the article was stubby and was written in the tone and style that's common with so many "vanity" pages created for unknown local artists. The article made no mention of notability. You're right that I should have at least Googled it before making the decision to name it encyclopedia. Vandalism of articles[edit]

In the future, please do not vandalise articles which others are in the process of creating. If you have concerns over vanity or determining the status of someone who is otherwise an "unknown" to you, please make use of the many tools at your disposal, such as Google or an appropriate lookup database for that figure. Also, if you believe something to be non-encyclopedic, be sure to state why on the discussion page to preemptively prevent an edit war.

Another suggestion would be to politely contact the original contributing author if the first edits were freshly made in the past 60 minutes. GRider\talk 20:59, 23 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Campbell-Stokes recorder[edit]

It seems to be a matter of preference. Most grammar books I've consulted favor adding 's to any singular word ending in s (e.g. Tess -> Tess's) and adding an apostrophe alone to a plural word ending in s (e.g. boys -> boys'). However, certain historical names ending in a sibilant s (Jesus, Moses) add only an apostrophe in the possessive to become Jesus', Moses'. To me, both ways are proper. Interestingly, if you go to the category Category:Eponymous laws and search for "s'" you'll see that about half use 's and the other half uses s' (I didn't count the actual numbers). —Brim 05:12, 25 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

X rays and implants[edit]

Dear Brim,

The silicone used in an implant is a mixture of C, H and Si. This is different to silicon which is the pure element. Please could you recalculate for the silicone, I estimate that the empirical formula of the gel in an implant is likely to be (C2H6Si)n. Capitalization[edit]

Per the capitalization issue for the heart defects -- I went ahead and deleted the redirect so I could move the page. But I think there still might be some extra copies of heart defect pages or pages in the wrong location -- I'm having trouble figuring out exactly what is where. Wikipedia:Notability (people) is not Wikipedia guideline. Even so, under the Alternative tests heading it lists Verifiability, which states: "Can all information in the article be independently verified now? (some say) 10 years from now?" The answer to both is yes. The subject is notable because it is verifiable. It was already judged for its notability when it was originally reported in credible well-known news sources. The point of Wikipedia is to be NPOV and chronicle the facts from sources like those; why should we place subjective restrictions on things that are already established as notable? If so, there is a slippery slope, and established information that some editors don't like can be censored for being "not notable enough?" Wikipedia is not censored for any reason. I just wanted to let you know that as some time has passed, there has been a lot more coverage of Zander Vaubel's death. There's even a Robert Longo exhibit dedicated to him. [1] (In case you don't know, he's a notable artist too.) I don't understand your impulsive rush to evaluate topics while their articles are still in development. You didn't even try to discuss my concerns with your notability tag, you just jumped to place it on AfD. prod[edit]

When you add the prod template to an article, like you did NASCAR Sim Online you need to subst the template, basically adding the template with:

  • {{subst:prod|REASON}}

rather than:

  • {{prod|REASON}}

That way it displays properly and categorises in the prods by date categories. I hope that explanation makes sense. If you don't subst the template, it looks like this, which isn't pretty. :) Steve block Talk 18:44, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
