Personal Life section[edit]

What is up with the "Personal life" section of this article? It seriously needs to be cleaned up. A lot of it has nothing to do with her personal life. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.166.23.133 (talk) 15:13, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, seriously, it looks like a random collection of trivia and facts, very much IMDB style. I checked to see if it was just copied pasted directly from IMDB, but it's not, though I'd wager it's copied and pasted from somewhere. The paragraphs are all single-sentence, there's no rhyme or reason, no chronological order or any other logical order, just a giant mess. At least it's tagged with the "this section may require cleanup" thing, although that should be at the top, not the middle. Definitely needs a ton of work. I agree! I wanted to change the huge run-on sentence at the beginning of paragraph 5. Do the following changes seem logical?! "Crow has practiced Transcendental Meditation for many years[.] Along with Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Mike Love of the Beach Boys, Moby, and Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam and Donovan[, Crow] performed in a benefit concert on April 4, 2009, at the Radio City Music Hall in New York organized by the David Lynch Foundation supporting the Foundation’s goal of teaching 1 million at-risk students to meditate." Associated acts inflation[edit]

I want to cut the associated acts list, as most of the acts listed do not meet the definition of associated acts. It's quite a big list so I'm seeking input first. Thanks. Acalamari 21:44, 10 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed it. Per the Associated Acts guideline [1] the criteria is:
groups of which she has been a member [none]
Other acts with which this act has collaborated on multiple occasions, or on an album, or toured with as a single collaboration act playing together [there is no indication in the article of anything that fits this description]
Groups which have spun off from this group [none]
A group from which this group has spun off [none]
Since Crow has always been a solo act, not a group, I don't see then need for any associated acts in the infobox. ALSO, the infobox by definition highlights the most important points from the body of he article. If a collaboration has not received significant mention in the body of the article then it doesn't seem appropriate for the Infobox.

Resume tag[edit]

The article reads like a resume especially from 2010 onwards. WP is a SUMMARY of reliable sources not a laundry list of isolated events like these below:

  • On October 11, 2011 William Shatner released the album Seeking Major Tom and she sang the track "Mrs. Major Tom" by electronic music artist K.I.A., released in 2003 on the album Adieu Shinjuku Zulu.
  • On September 20, 2011 it was announced that Crow will write the music and lyrics for Diner, a new musical inspired by the critically acclaimed 1982 film. The show will come to Broadway in the fall of 2012, and will be directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Kathleen Marshall.[46]
  • Also in 2012, VH1 ranked Crow at #25 as one of the 100 Greatest Women in Music.[52]

Let's consider adding the Unreleased Album[edit]

When users search for Sheryl's Unreleased Album (the album tentatively titled "Sheryl Crow" which was to be released on 22 Sept 1992) an empty userspace page from wikipedia is one of the first searches to come up. I think there's plenty of sources and internet data (not to mention the music itself) to justify giving her 'Sheryl Crow (1992)' album its own page and discuss its history and songs recorded/used. If we were to start a page for her unreleased album, the page would be linkable not just from /Sheryl_Crow but also from 'Point Break', 'Wynonna Judd', and other pages where her songs from this album were featured or covered.

I can start this initiative but I haven't updated pages (particularly higher profile pages like Sheryl's) in awhile and wanted to start a conversation with the edit team before I moved forward.

Paperdoll Queen[edit]

I'll see if I can figure out how to remove the "Clarification" tag. Paperdoll Queen is a beauty contest; photos of a half dozen students are sent to a "celebrity judge" and rated. Sheryl's photograph was selected as the "prettiest" that year, but I don't know who the judge was in 1980. A couple of the judges in the next few years were Rick Dees and Johnny Carson. I can also confirm that the Yahoo photo is genuine, from the 1980 Kennett HS yearbook, and that Sheryl was indeed crowned Paperdoll Queen that year.
