More history needed[edit]

I moved some text and one picture around.

I think the layout of the page needs more work.

A little more history would be nice.

WWII[edit]

I am deleting the sentence about how many good people died at the concentration camp. It's not for us to judge wether they are good or not. That's POV. If someone could get a name for the concentration camp, that would be good as well. - Big Brother is Watching (talk) 15:36, 18 June 2005

Vandalism[edit]

I think the people with their last names both 'Vogel' are not really notable people born in Amersfoort. It happens a lot lately that people like to put their names up there. --Pietpiet (talk) 06:02, 13 February 2007

Agreed, I never even heard from him, and I'm from here. TheDatim (talk) 21:32, 30 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Link to Amer River - Correct?[edit]

A link has recently been made from this Amersfoort article to the article Amer River. However, the Amer in the WP article appears to be nowhere near Amersfoort. Is it a case of two rivers with the same name: a modern-day river named Amer in North Brabant province; and the Eem, formerly named the Amer, in Utrecht province, the river in question in this Amersfoort article? papageno (talk) 16:18, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No, this is a incorrect link which should be "Eem". The Eem was named Amer but is now called Eem. However, ther stil apears to be a short river (12km) called Amer. this is NOT the same as the Eem. Greetings Matthias92 (talk) 09:29, 10 June 2008 (UTC) (from Amersfoort)[reply]

Image needs replacement[edit]

Hello all...

An image used in the article, specifically Image:Amersfoortse Kei.jpg, has a little bit of a licensing issue. The image was uploaded back when the rules around image uploading were less restrictive. It is presumed that the uploader was willing to license the picture under the GFDL license but was not clear in that regard. As such, the image, while not at risk of deletion, is likely not clearly licensed to allow for free use in any future use of this article. If anyone has an image that can replace this, or can go take one and upload it, it would be best.

You have your mission, take your camera and start clicking.--Jordan 1972 (talk) 21:54, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't really feel like taking the picture but if you can't keep the old one... Or is there another one on Commons? If neccesery I can take it. (I live down there in Amersfoort...) Kind regards, Matthias92 (talk) 20:57, 1 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I shall take the picture, it's only a small detour on my way home. :) TheDatim (talk) 21:33, 30 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
That would be great, The Datim, thanks. --papageno (talk) 21:11, 31 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Adding Henricus Zoesius[edit]

The text below was added accidentally to the article text. I have moved it here.

Notable residents
Here should be added:
Zoesius, Henricus (1571-1627)
who was a noted jurisprudent, later Professor at Louvain University. Some of his works are even to day of interest and are reprinted or digitalisided.

I don't see this person listed on the Dutch WP article about notable residents (at nl:Lijst van Amersfoorters). Lots of Google search results about his books, but I didn't see anything to say he was from Amersfoort (and admittedly quick skim on my part). --papageno (talk) 15:28, 27 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think we should, unless he provides a link with evidence. TheDatim (talk) 21:35, 30 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
