  • Strong keep. His competitive achievements make him far more notable than just the office of CUSID president. Not all presidents of CUSID are listed with their own entries, only those who were also competitive debaters of international note.   • My last word on this: when Andy on The Apprentice has his achievement of being a "nationally-ranked high school debater" stand as his famous accomplishment, surely being the national college champion, or top 10 in the world at the university level, is worth some notability. Someone asked for an example of a fan site to show that non-participants are interested in varsity debating -- here is a rather elaborate one: [1]. -- Fenster 07:38, 25 Nov 2004 (UTC)
    • Your Apprentice argument supports my comment that being a "nationally-ranked" debater makes a good resume entry but it's hardly an argument for an encyclopedia article. In fact, if you have to resort to citing the Apprentice as evidence it doesn't say much for the strength of your argument. Are you now suggesting we have articles on all "nationally ranked high school debaters" as well? AndyL 15:00, 26 Nov 2004 (UTC)
    • Being an NCAA or Olympic champion is a great resume entry too. Shall we delete everyone whose claim to fame is non-professional achievements such as those? The reason I cited the Apprentice was because someone mentioned that "general awareness" as a criterion. Well if it's the main claim to fame for someone on a show as stupid and mainstream as the Apprentice, then it can't be so esoteric an activity, can it? And that's non-champion status in HIGH school debating, which I'm not advocating articles for. -- Fenster 19:08, 26 Nov 2004 (UTC)
