suggestions?[edit]

Shall the Linné-classification be an own root category or under botany and zoology ? Any suggestions? // Rogper 22:04, 1 Jun 2004 (UTC) blood cells — Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.195.43.143 (talk) 09:00, 14 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

subdividing biology[edit]

what s the criteria for determining what is a subcategory and what is a category here? is there a wiki policy in place for establishing this/categorizing or is it up to the page maker / editor? at any rate the subdivisions here are somewhat at odds with those on List of academic disciplines article. -- Mayumashu 06:37, 12 Mar 2005 (UTC)

there is no organization here[edit]

There is a lot of useful information here but no real organization. since there doesn't seem to be much interest in organizing it I'll do it myself. If anyone has a beef with this or any suggestions let me know. I'll have it done in a week.

I'm a biologist and educator who wants to make this an awsome site. I could use some help. right know it's crap wrapped around gold -- anonymous user Jan 11, 2006

A little (or a lot) of organization can't hurt! Andrewjuren 18:18, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Medicine[edit]

Certainly they are related, but is Medicine really a sub-category of Biology? That relationship seems a bit unusual to me. Thoughts? --Alan Au 08:33, 16 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think that medicine is a sub-category of Biology. It is obvious. --Meno25 15:59, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Subcatting[edit]

  • This category is unwieldy. I propose subdivision Category:Types of biology as a start, to include cryobiology, ethnobiology, developmental biology, molecular biology, microbiology, and so on. Other ideas? --lquilter 22:20, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • I filtered out a lot and hopefully improved it, but may have been overaggressive. User:ragesoss pointed out that "For the main articles of the subcategories, you shouldn't remove it from the supercategory according to Wikipedia:Categorization_and_subcategories#Topic_article_rule" - I undid those that I took out per this rule. Second, I took out Cell (biology) which was a bit too aggressive. Any other mishaps, please correct. --lquilter 02:47, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
So I tried have a look - Those two I did brought back, should be the only in need, I think:
  1. Microbiology
  2. Neuroscience

  • Yep, you got them as I was finishing them up. --lquilter 03:27, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Abandoned testiclusm may refer to the dysfunction of the testicles making the penis shrink

Categorizing[edit]

Heads up to anybody watching this page. I'm going to be bold and start organizing it.OakRunner (talk) 21:09, 3 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Organization[edit]

I agree with other users that the organization of the page seems a little confusing. The subcategories and categories feel slightly random. I do also feel the word "cell" should be mentioned in the first paragraph as cells are the fundamental unit of life and ergo biology. Zeen Aleaf (talk) 05:34, 24 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
