I have created the stub with a few of the facts based on similar listings for the Russell Island in Canada. Much more could be written because Russell has an interesting history and a fascinating but badly mauled wetland ecology.--Leeshipley 02:10, 16 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Some work done to improve the quality. Three new citations, some illustrations and a some minor editions Leeshipley 07:45, 8 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Definitely needs more work. The population of Russell Island is increasing rapidly at roughly 8% per year despite the economic downturn. Having the cheapest land in SEQ means that it is very attractive, despite the downsides of a lack of infrastructure and public facilities. An estimated 60 new dwellings will be built this year to keep pace with the population increase. I have made some changes to reflect the verifiable facts but much of the change is not being officially recorded. Fortunately, because of highly-charged protests about mainland parking facilities, the Redland City Council is focussing much more attention on the islands this year. This means we should have less guessing and more citations in the future ---Leeshipley (talk) 06:50, 6 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
