Not at all, was thinking the same myself. Could you make the 'a' in ancient a capital? Also, be careful in distinguishing between peoples and their kingdoms. Lastly, would it be okay if you left those in Connacht to me? Save you the trouble, and let me work in the cociead I know best! Also, please show where you get your information, as some of the stuff you derived from O'Rahilly was off the mark.Fergananim

Sure, knock yourself out on the Connacht stuff. I got caught up on Uí Fiachrach when I found the article on the category page, which I don't think you're supposed to do as it duplicates data and costs Wikipedia money, but ended up duplicating it again.

"Off the mark" is a bit harsh. O'Rahilly may not be as completely accepted as he once was, but he's still fairly well respected and doesn't deserve the complete dismissal you give him. But point taken on the attribution.

As for the capital A, the Wikipedia style guide (Wikipedia:Naming conventions) prefers not to use capitals for second or subsequent words unless they're proper nouns, so the title's fine as it is. --Nicknack009 19:39, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Cool. Fair enough on O'Rahilly. I often felt it got a bit overenthuastic and made his theorys - and they remain theorys - sound like authoritive fact. But in any case whatever my own personal and professional feelings I think his case should be heard, if only to see if everyone else is "off the mark." Fergananim.

What is this article (supposed to be) about[edit]

Per the lede this is "...a list of some of the attested Gaelic kingdoms of Early Medieval Ireland prior to the Norman invasion of 1169-72." (the italic part just added by me). The maps in the article is from ca 1014 (Earlu mediaval) and ca 1300 and 1450 (after the invasion). The "kingdoms" listed are from Prehistoric Ireland or Early Christian Ireland, though a number of them existed well past 800 and some well past the invasion. So the timeframe badly needs to be defined. Some sort of definition of what is counted as a "kingdom" would be good too, although that is a very complex question in early Irish history. Ireland in 1450 map[edit]

If I had any idea how to make a new map I would, but I don't. The fact is that indicating the presence of the McDonalds in north Antrim in the middle of the 15th century is just plan wrong. They didn't settle there in significant numbers until the middle of the 16th onwards with the Clan Ian Mor displacing the MacQuillans and other peoples there.
