Heller says he should have been killed 3 times[edit]

From the article: "Heller flew 60 bombing missions from May to October in 1944. Heller mentions that he should have been killed three times over, since the average death rate was 5% per mission. "

While at first, this seems to be a correct statement, he actually had a probability of being killed of only 95% in 60 missions, if 5% is the correct death rat. Should this be mentioned? 77.10.69.142 (talk) 20:13, 25 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

How do you reach that figure? benzband (talk) 22:32, 25 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
To figure out the probability there, you simply multiply 0.95 (95% survival chance) by 0.95 sixty times. Theoretically, this gives you the probability that a given event (in this case, survival), with a 95% chance of occurring, would happen sixty times in a row. Synopsis[edit]

I am reading this book right now and the synopsis in this article is inaccurate. Specifically, the description of Milo's syndicate does not appear in the cited chapters. Indeed, there is no mention of either Milo or his syndicate in the cited chapters. 108.48.190.72 (talk) 18:36, 27 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Literary allusions[edit]

No examples of allusion are given, but should be. The text from Howard Jacobson's introduction names a set of works of literature and film which bear similarities in tone to the novel. Jacobson is not saying that Catch-22 alludes to these other works. Notreallydavid (talk) 23:27, 15 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Scheisskopf[edit]

Maybe it's worth mentioning Scheisskopf literally means shit head in German? 2A02:8070:A284:EAA0:F31C:8016:AECA:1217 (talk) 07:24, 23 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Misogyny[edit]

I feel like their should be some mention of the casual misogyny so prevalent in the book. For example, in Chapter 27 Yossarian grabs Nurse Duckett by the vagina while Dunbar grabs her breasts from behind. She screams during the attack and cries afterwards, yet the scene is written as if it were just amusing, youthful hi-jinks.

Misogyny has been the basis for many schools pulling the book from their shelves. 74.194.168.98 (talk) 16:37, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You'd need to cite something besides your own opinion. Bkatcher (talk) 00:06, 11 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
