Wikipedia is an encyclopedia that you can edit. Surprisingly, this results in a very good encyclopedia. Vandalism is quickly and easily removed.

How to edit, etc.
[edit]Remember that you can edit any of these pages. First, go to the page and find something you wish to change. You don't need an account, but you'll probably want one to let you upload images and to ensure that your edits get more respect. If you just wish to edit a single section of the article, you can click on the Edit link that you see to the upper-right of the section. If you wish to edit the whole article, perhaps moving sections around or adding and deleting them, you need to click the Edit tab above the top of the article.
You'll see what we call wikitext. This is an easy way to make nice web pages. Detailed editing help is available, but here are the basics: To make a word be bold, you just put 3 apostrophies on each side. To make a word italic, use 2 apostrophies on each side. To make a link within the Wikipedia, simply enclose the word in double square brackets. (it looks like [[link]] in the editor) Broken links are red; simply click on them to create a new page with that name. Links to other web sites are done with single brackets, with the desired name after the URL. So something that looks like [http://www.example.org/ An example!] in the editor will look like An example! when you are done. You can indent a line by starting it with a colon (":"), make a bullet point by starting a line with an asterisk ("*"), or make a heading by starting and ending the line with pairs of equals signs ("==").
Use the Upload file link on your left if you want to upload an image. You'll be given instructions for using it. Generally, you should upload the largest image you have. If you don't mind, you should release the image into the public domain by marking it as {{PD}}. (that lets everybody use it for any purpose, except for certain disparaging uses) Usually you'd use wikitext like [[Image:Mommy_feeds_Kyle.jpg|thumb|right|A baby nursing]] to include the image on a page.
At the top of each page you will see a tab marked "discussion". This takes you to the "talk page", which is an article about the article. It's where people discuss pages. Remember, if the "discussion" link is red, then you're the first person to edit that page. If you want to participate in the discussion, simply edit the page. It is considered important to "sign" things on talk pages (though not on article pages!) by using 4 tile ("~") characters in a row. This lets people know who wrote each comment. A signiture looks like this: AlbertCahalan 01:05, 27 May 2005 (UTC)
